Angles – worksheets to print

Recognise types of angles, measure angles with a set square and draw them – printed true to scale.

  • Choose the number of tasks and the difficulty yourself
  • With an answer sheet and, if you like, a QR code to the answers
  • At three levels (★ to ★★★) and as group A and B
  • As a single worksheet or as a task on a mixed worksheet
This is how it looks on the worksheet – with new numbers every time.

Angles: explained simply

An angle describes the opening between two rays with the same starting point. Identify its type, measure it or draw it.

How to work it out

  • Acute: below 90°. Right: exactly 90°. Obtuse: above 90° and below 180°. Straight: exactly 180°. Reflex: above 180° and below 360°.
  • To measure, place the protractor's centre on the vertex and its baseline along one arm. Read the scale that starts at 0 on that arm.

An example, step by step

An angle measures 120°. What type is it?

  1. Compare it with a right angle: 120° is greater than 90°.
  2. Compare it with a straight angle: 120° is less than 180°.
  3. It is an obtuse angle.

Understand other variations

Draw an angle

Draw the first ray. Place the protractor at its starting point, mark the required angle, such as 60°, and draw the second ray through the mark.

Angles above 180°

Check which opening the arc marks. A full turn is 360°. If the smaller opening is 90°, the larger one is 360° − 90° = 270°.

Your turn

What type of angle is 45°?

Show the answer and method

An acute angle, because 45° is below 90°.
